Shefaro is the home of multi-facted sighthounds:  Borzoi, Greyhounds, (formerly) Ibizan Hounds and Salukis.   I absolutely adore these sighthound breeds (no offense to my Afghan Hound friends, but oh that hair LOL).   I started with Borzoi but when I was unable to attend a world show due to the logistics of getting an adult male Borzoi in a giant travel kennel to South America, I started looking for a smaller sighthound breed.   While searching a page called "Puppyfind.com"  I came across the Ibizan Hound Lily.  Yes, her "famous" breeder advertises on the internet.   She was sooooo cute at five weeks and I sent my deposit to her breeder.  Lily got me hooked on Ibizans.   I was subsequently given two Ibizan Hound boys by the same breeder.  Lily, Spirit and my boy, Idol, because Field Champions with multiple Bests in Field.  My life with Ibizans ended due to issues in the breed, not revealed to me, and my kids are spayed/neutered and in companion homes.    In the meantime, a Saluki came into my life and I was hooked on them.   The Greyhounds came later when a breeder became ill and asked if I would buy one of her girls, knowing that I am a serious show home.  I did and my love for Greyhounds was born.   These sighthound breeds are a delight and I am proud to be ranked among the top sighthound breeders and owners in the world who have multiple breeds and succeed with them all.   There is no reason why anyone can't appreciate and have a variety of breeds, especially the sighthounds which are so incredibly beautiful to look at and a joy with which to live.   That's life at Shefaro.     My greatest pride and joy is the lovely temperaments of Shefaro sighthounds that allow them to work in service and therapy.    They are not just another pretty face.

Handsome Shefaro Saluki, UKC Ch. Shefaro Lauren's Francisco Santiago, is pictured in the group ring at the UKC shows Feb. 27 and 28, 2010 where he finished his UKC championship in grand style with a hound group two and three.   He had not been "off the farm" until the UKC shows and his ability to adapt is a testament to Shefaro temperament.   SHEFARO SERVICE AND THERAPY IS  the pride of Shefaro.
